1. Will my appointment
be private and confidential?
Yes. I do not offer group
sessions because they typically produce lower success-rates compared to
an individualized approach. A private appointment allows me to
customize the visit to you and your specific smoking triggers. Federal
law requires your appointment to be 100% confidential, so whatever we
discuss remains between us unless you sign a release form.
2. What’s the
success-rate?
About 90% of my clients
stop smoking and remain non-smokers when they follow my directions. The
technique I use is designed to produce a lack of desire to use
tobacco. This can happen only if you follow my directions.
3. How many
appointments will I need?
Most of my clients need
just one appointment. Some need two, but it’s unusual.
4. How long will my
appointment take?
About 60 to 90 minutes.
Your actual hypnosis session will be only 10 to 15 minutes. The bulk of
the appointment time is spent gathering information from you,
explaining the process to you, and answering all of your questions.
Remember, the better informed you are the better you’re going to
do.
5. How can I succeed
with just one or two appointments?
I have a very specific
“recipe” for success. You are going to receive a recording
of your hypnosis session. This is not a generic recording: it is a
recording of your specific session, so it’s customized for you.
It is vital that you listen to the recording, as you fall asleep, for
seven nights following your appointment. This reinforces the in-office
session. It is also important for you to use the customized CD about
once a week for a few months to remain smoke-free. Using the CD once a
month from then on will help you continue to remain a non-smoker. Each
time you use the CD, you are reinforcing the lack of desire to smoke.
This is why my clients are so successful. You will be doing the
reinforcement yourself. In case you are wondering why listening to
the CD as you fall asleep is the best time, here’s why: All
humans experience a natural state of deep hypnosis as we are falling
asleep. Therefore, this is the best time to reinforce a change of
habit, behavior, preference or desire.
6. How will I know if
I need the second appointment? What’s different about it?
You only need the second
appointment if you don’t stop smoking after the first session,
followed by using the CD for a full week. Most people do not need the
second session. If the second visit is needed, I’ll use a
different technique and create a new CD for you. You’ll use the
new CD for one week and call me with your results. Over 80% of clients
do not need the second appointment, but in the interest of full
disclosure, it is a possibility. I want to be completely up-front about
this: less than 20% of people need the follow-up session. The second
appointment takes about 60 to 90 minutes.
7. Can I drive after
the appointment?
Yes, of course.
You’ll feel relaxed, but you’re fully awake during and
after the session.
8. Can this be done by
phone?
Yes. The actual hypnosis
session is not conducted by phone. After we have the discussion
and consultation on the phone (just as we would do if you were in the
office), I’ll then record your CD. The CD is mailed to you for
use at home. I have helped hundreds of people all over the US, and
abroad, without ever meeting them. The success-rate is the same whether
you come into the office or not.
9. Can I address two
issues at the same time?
Technically, the answer is
yes. But my policy is to work with one person at a time and address one
issue at a time. This is why my success-rate is so high. Working with
multiple people and multiple issues lowers the success-rate. I have
never conducted group sessions, nor have I addressed multiple issues
simultaneously, and I never will. Doing so is simply not prudent.
10. What’s the fee?
Please contact Linda, the
office manager, regarding fees. The phone number is 908-301-0039.
11. What’s your
success-rate for smoking cessation?
About 90% of my clients
succeed when they follow my directions. Directions will be provided in
writing, so you’ll know exactly what to do to maximize your
long-term success. We are also available to guide you by phone or email
in the event you have a question.
12. Can you guarantee my
success?
I will tell you your chances
of success based on my many years of experience working with
thousands of clients of all ages is about 90%.
13. When I get stressed or
anxious I smoke. Will you help me manage stress?
Yes. I teach every client
a simple stress management technique. Practicing the technique
regularly will help you stay a non-smoker. In fact, it will help you in
many ways, because people who manage stress are overall healthier and
happier.
14. So, the bottom line is
there are three steps to your stop smoking method?
Yes. To maximize success,
you will need to (A) have your private appointment (B) use your
customized recording for seven nights in a row and (C) practice the
stress management technique that I teach you.
15. What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a relaxed
state during which you’re concentrating on something. You are
awake during hypnosis. You are in control of yourself and your actions.
You are aware of everything going on. All you feel is relaxed.
It’s equivalent to a daydream. All humans experience a natural
state of hypnosis as we fall asleep at night. It’s that
“twilight” state that we go through just before falling
asleep. You’ve been in that state thousands of times in your
life. Everyone has. There’s no such thing as a person who does
not experience the state of hypnosis.
16. Can you make me do
something inappropriate during hypnosis?
No. That only happens in
the movies! You always know what’s going on during the relaxed
state of hypnosis because you’re not asleep. You’re just
relaxed.
17. Are those hypnosis acts
in nightclubs and in the movies real?
Of course not.
Unfortunately, those silly portrayals of hypnosis tarnish the
public’s perception of hypnosis. Remember, that’s an act,
pure entertainment. No one can make you do something you do not want to
do while in the relaxed state of hypnosis. You have my word as a
professional: your experience in this office will be nothing like what
you have seen in movies or in nightclubs.
18. Is it true medical
hypnosis is recognized by the AMA?
Yes. The American Medical
Association, The American Dental Association and The American
Psychological Association all recognize hypnosis for its medicinal
benefits. In fact, the AMA recognized it in 1958, so it is not new and
it is not experimental. It’s a well-established, drug-free
technique with broad applications.
19. Why isn’t
hypnosis more common in the US?
It’s more common in
America than ever before. But it’s much more common throughout
the rest of the world. Remember, the US healthcare system is a pharmaceutical-surgical
model of care. This means it is based primarily on the use of
medications and surgery. However, in areas of the world where
pharmaceutical companies have less of an influence, it’s quite
normal for a physician to incorporate drug-free techniques into his or
her practice. This is why the medical use of hypnosis is more common
outside the US. As more Americans demand more drug-free treatments,
medical hypnosis and other integrative techniques (such as acupuncture)
will become mainstreamed. Another reason medical hypnosis is less
popular here than other countries is due to the many myths and
misconceptions that surround it.
20. Is medical hypnosis
new?
No, not at all. Hypnosis
has been used in all societies around the globe for centuries. Today,
it’s practiced in about 20% of US hospitals and it’s taught
in many clinical programs and universities, from Harvard to Oxford.
21. Is it true medical
doctors and registered nurses practice medical hypnosis?
Yes, some do. In fact,
some dentists and chiropractors are trained in it, too
22. Why are there are so
many myths about hypnosis?
There are so many
misconceptions about hypnosis. I’ve been in health care for
nearly 30 years, and I still hear new misconceptions about it almost
daily. So, take a moment to read this. Know the facts. If you
attempt to benefit from hypnosis, going into the process with misguided
notions will not help you achieve and maintain your goals.

thoughts, your feelings and your actions.

23. Will my life or medical
insurance go down when I stop smoking?
Many insurance plans
reward their customers with lower premiums when they stop smoking.
Check with your insurance agent about this. If your insurance company
or agent wants a letter from me confirming your office visit, I will
gladly provide that. There’s no charge for this.
24. Is it true I can deduct
the cost of your services on my taxes?
This might be the case.
Please ask a certified public accountant (CPA) about this, as I cannot
give tax advice.
25. What’s your

reprinted here is an exact quote as it appears in the
client’s letter. All testimonial letters are on file in the
office for your review. You are welcome to come in and peruse these
files. Please call first (908-301-0039) to be sure Linda, the office
manager, will be in when you stop by. Due to federal confidentiality
laws, I cannot disclose the names of the clients who were nice enough
to take the time to write.

Option 2:
Behavior Modification (Hypnosis is NOT utilized)
This approach
involves generally 4 to 6 private weekly appointments of about 30
minutes each. It involves reducing the use of tobacco over time
and having the weekly in-office professional support to help you
through the process. In addition, you will be taught a stress reduction
technique which you’ll have to practice several times a day. The
technique takes only about five minutes to do.
Option 3:
Group Behavior Modification (Hypnosis
is NOT utilized )
This approach is
the same as Option 2, only the appointments are not
private. You will be part of a group of up to ten people who are
quitting tobacco. Please refer to Option 2 above for the explanation.
Option 4:
Telephone Buddy System (Hypnosis is NOT utilized)
This
approach requires one private office appointment to get started. It
takes about 60 minutes. You’ll be given a gradual tobacco
reduction schedule to follow. After the office appointment, all
additional contact will be by phone. Basically, using this method,
you’ll be able to call Ron’s personal cell phone any time
you wish for support. He can immediately help you over the
‘hump’ until the craving subsides. In the event he is not
available, someone in the office who is trained to help in these
circumstance will assist you. Calls can be made seven days a week
from 9 AM to 11 PM. In addition, you will be taught a stress
reduction technique which you’ll have to practice several times a
day. The technique takes only about five minutes to do.
Option 5:
The Combined Approach (Hypnosis IS utilized)
This approach
involves using Options 1, 2 and 4 all at the same time.
